Record Store Day in Cincinnati: Sugarcube Records

Craig Baker started Sugarcube Records in the Spring of 2011. The store is located in the heart of Covington at 422 West 6th Street. Craig wanted to start a neighborhood store that focused on select genres of new and used vinyl at a good price.

According to Craig, “Besides a couple friends that help me out when I need it, I run and work the store by myself. I love this area for music and especially for the independent record stores.  I think everyone has their favorites but you can find something unique and different at all of them.”

For Record Store Day, there will be a ton of great used vinyl and discounts on most everything in the store. Stay tuned to Sugarcube Record’s Facebook page for updates.

Unfortunately, Sugarcube Records will be closing its doors this Summer. Craig will be buying and selling vinyl until the very end. Please make sure you stop by a few dozen more times before the doors close.

“I opened the store 6 years ago hoping to bring a good mix of new and used vinyl to the neighborhood. It's been a lot of fun and along the way I made some new friends, too. I want to thank everyone who came out and supported the store. I'm going to miss talking music with a lot of you but I'm sure I will see you around.”

Cincinnati is one of the lucky cities to have a plethora of independently owned record stores. Within the month of April we will be highlighting these stores. Stay tuned for more!
