Will Kimbrough and Brigitte DeMeyer at Southgate House Revival Saturday

Showcasing a unique folk sound and collaborative genius since 2010, Will Kimbrough and Brigitte DeMeyer are heading to Southgate House Revival on Saturday April 22nd for another stellar show.

Known for stripping songs down to their roots and their playful use of acoustics, DeMeyer and Kimbrough collaborate brilliantly, as displayed in their latest album Mockingbird Soul, which was released in late January as their first album as a singing-songwriting duo.

“We figured we might as well put both our names on it and just make it a thing,” says Kimbrough, “because the chemistry’s there, the writing’s there, the harmonies are there, and so is our mutual love of all the music these songs are derived from and inspired by.” (From the Brigitte and Will website).

Their style of American roots music derives from several genres including blues, gospel, early jazz, country music, bluegrass, early rock-n-roll, and folk, giving them the edge that hasn’t yet been seen in the industry. The soulful harmonization and emotion behind each song on their album radiates, as heard in the tracks “October Song,” “Rainy Day,” and the title track “Mockingbird Soul.”

2004 Americana Music Association’s Instrumentalist of the Year, Kimbrough is a guitarist who has collaborated and produced with Emmylou Harris, Jimmy Buffett, Todd Snider, and more. He collaborated with DeMeyer on two of her albums, Rose of Jericho and Savannah Road.

You can see the raw musical, emotional connection and talent of DeMeyer and Kimbrough at Southgate House Revival on Saturday April 22nd at 8 p.m. Doors open at 7:30 p.m., and tickets can be purchased here for $15 to $18.
